The meeting was called to order by Shirley Wayne Washington at 6:05 p.m.

A. Rollcall by Juanita Wright.

8 Present 4 Absent 4 Vacancies

B. Approval of Agenda

Motion to approve agenda made by Robert Spirito; seconded by Ann Tramontana; motion carried unanimously.

C. Approval of Minutes

Robert Spirito questioned #1 under Item F, Unfinished Business, concerning Assistant Police Chief statement. Motion to approve March 8, 2006 minutes made by Catherine Gootkin; Barbara Carroll seconded the motion to approve minutes with necessary correction; motion carried unanimously.

The Chair welcomed Mr. William Bixby, newly appointed CRB member from the Dwight neighborhood management team. The Chair provided a brief orientation to Mr. Bixby.

D. Coordinator's Report

The approval of the CRB Coordinator's Report was deferred until the next meeting.

E. Open Floor

Ann Massaro, who was visiting from the Quinnipiac area, attended to view the CRB process.


F. Unfinished Business

1) Assistant Chief of Police - awaiting report of Chief of Police

G. Subcommittee Reports

Assistant Corporation Counsel Jonathan Beamon discussed the Mayor's Executive Order No. 01-01. There was a question concerning the expiration of the order. The current order should last until the executive leaves office or decides to change the order.

The Board decided to leave the Case Review of Deaths as referenced in the CRB bylaws as is unless there is a conflict with the Executive Order.


H. New Business

The CRB Forum date has been rescheduled from May 11 to September 14, 2006. Motion was made and seconded by Robert Spirito and carried unanimously.

Upcoming events to note:

- Retirement dinner for Detective Dean Perkins is May 11th.
- Farewell dinner for Bryan Norwood, newly-appointed Bridgeport Chief of Police, will take place on June 2nd.

Adjourment to Executive Session at 6:55 p.m. to discuss Case #039-05-C.
